West Virginia College Grants and LoansWest Virginia GrantsWest Virginia Higher Education Grant Program These grants are for financially needy West Virginia residents to help attend approved schools in West Virginia or Pennsylvania. The awards range from $350 to $2756. Applicants must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Common Application for State-Level Financial Aid Programs website. Deadline for 2009 is March 1.Higher Education Adult Part-Time Student (HEAPS) Grant Program The HEAPS Grant Program is intended to assist financially needy West Virginia residents who have been out of high school for at least two years and want to continue their education part time. There are other requirements. Applicants must submit a FAFSA and a HEAPS application for this grant.
West Virginia LoansMedical Student Loan Program Students who are attending the Marshall University School of Medicine, the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine or the West Virginia University School of Medicine and are financially needy, may be eligible for this loan program. Students may repay the loan after graduation or can have the loan forgiven at the rate of $10,000 for each year of full-time practice in an approved designated medically underserved area or in a medical specialty designated as a critical shortage field in West Virginia.
