Illinois ScholarshipsIllinois General Assembly Scholarships Members of the General Assembly can award these scholarships to members of their legislative district. Contact your General Assembly representative directly.Merit Recognition Scholarships This is a one time $1000 scholarship for Illinois students who either in the top 5% of their high school class at the end of the 3rd semester before graduation or who scored in the top 5% of Illinois students in one of the college entrance tests during the same time period. Minority Teachers of Illinois (MTI) Scholarships African American/Black, Asian American, Hispanic American or Native American students who plan to become teachers may be eligible for this $5000 yearly scholarship. Recipients must commit to teaching in an approved Illinois school with at least a 30% minority enrollment. There is a one year commitment for each year that the scholarship is received. Illinois Future Teachers Corps Program Students in at least their junior year in an Illinois college/university who is planning on teaching in an Illinois school upon graduation and is accepted or enrolled in the Teacher Education Program may be eligible for a scholarship from the Illinois Future Teachers Corps Program. Recipients must agree to teach in a public, private, or parochial Illinois preschool, or public elementary or secondary school for a minimum of five years upon graduation.
