California Scholarships

When searching, it seems that there are few scholarships available through the California Higher Education system. In reality most of the financial aid shows up as grants, including the Cal Grants which provide large numbers of California students with financial aid. HPEF Pre-Nursing Scholarship Program This program is administered by the California Health Professions Education Foundation. Scholarships are awarded to pre-nursing students attending school in Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced or Tulare counties. students who will be entering an Associate Degree Nursing program within one year. Scholarship amounts are up to $4,000 per year. Students receiving the scholarship would have a one year service obligation.


HPEF Associate Degree Nursing Scholarship Program This program is administered by the California Health Professions Education Foundation. Nursing students entering or enrolled in a Associate Degree Nursing program in California and who agree to obtain a bachelor's degree at a nursing program in California within five years of obtaining their associate degree in nursing are eligible for this scholarship. Awards may be up to $10,000 per year and there would be a two year service obligation. Applications are open through February 28, 2017. HPEF Bachelor of Science Nursing Scholarship Program This program is also administered by the California Health Professions Education Foundation. Nursing students accepted or enrolled in a Bachelor of Science Nursing program in California and will graduate after June 30, 2017 may be eligible for this scholarship. Awards may be up to $10,000 per year and there would be a two year service obligation in a Medically Underserved Area. Applications are open through February 28, 2017. Allied Healthcare Scholarship Program This program is also administered by the California Health Professions Education Foundation. If you are currently accepted or enrolled in any of the following programs, you may be eligible for the Allied Healthcare Scholarship.
Clinical Laboratory Scientists
Community Health Workers/Promotoras
Dental Hygienists
Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
Medical Assistants
Medical Imaging Technologists
Medical Laboratory Technologists
Nuclear Medicine Technologists
Occupational Therapist Assistants
Pharmacy Technicians
Physical Therapy Assistants
Radiation Therapy Technologists
Radiologic Technicians
Respiratory Therapists
Social Work
Surgical Technicians
Ultrasound Technicians
Other, Allied Healthcare (will not be given priority) Nursing is not an allied profession
You must also carry at least a 2.0 GPA and be willing to work for one year in a medically underserved area for one year and graduate after June 30, 2017. Awards may be up to $8,000 per year. California Credit Union Annual College Scholarship Program The CCU will be awarding 10 $1,000 scholarships to Los Angeles area students, either grduating high school or moving from a community college to a four year program. A 3.0 GPS is required and recipients must be attending an accredited college or university in 2017-18. Application deadline is March 17, 2017.
