Nov. 20, 2005 - 13,000 Massachusetts students Could Lose Grants

The Boston Globe reported today that under a proposal from the Mass Department of Higher Education, thousands of Massachusetts students could lose their Gilbert or Access Grants.

Currently, the neediest students qualify for a MASS grant, while the Access and Gilbert Grants cover a wider financial range of students. The new proposal would expand the MASS Grant program, adding the Access and Gilbert funding in with the MASS funds, and increasing the highest MASS Grant award to $3800 from the current $2300.

Students who received only the Gilbert or Access Grants wouldn't qualify for the grants under the new proposal.

Nov. 12, 2005 - $500 Scholarship from Hazing Awareness Fund Available for the 2005-2006 Academic Year

(PRWEB) November 12, 2005 -- Milk & Honey Publishing, and Big Walt Anderson are proud to announce up to twelve $500 cash awards for the fall 2005 to spring 2006 school year. All college students, undergraduate and graduate, that are enrolled in any accredited College or University that has a Greek social setting may apply. A student must be in good standing at their school with a minimum 2.0 GPA or C Average.

Also, up to the first ten applicants of each deadline month (see below) will receive one free rare collectible “Big Walt” autographed book of their choice from, which includes "The Secret Sisterhood" and "Pledge Brothers" but not the movie "Frat Daze," personally delivered by Big Walt Anderson. Big Walt Anderson states, "I hope this book fund helps a few students in need. I remember how I had to borrow my colleagues' books or I had to try and check books out at the library because I didn't have enough money for them".

Each Applicant will be asked to fill out a one-page application, provide a copy of their current school registration and transcript and write or photocopy their school’s “Hazing Policy." Students may apply by contacting their school’s scholarship office and requesting an application or an application can be downloaded from

Applications must be returned by the 6th of each month (see below deadlines), and awards are granted around the 30th of each month.

Deadlines: Aug. 6th, 2005, Sept. 6th, 2005, Oct. 6th, 2005, Nov. 6th, 2005, Dec. 6th, 2005, Jan. 6th, 2006, Feb. 6th, 2006, March 6th, 2006, April 6th, 2006, May 6th, 2006, June 6th, 2006 and July 6th, 2006 – Applications will be valid for the upcoming deadline date only. Students may apply once per year only. Only winners will be notified.

Nov. 3, 2005 - Walton College Alumni Endow Honors Scholarship

Two alumni of the University of Arkansas Sam M. Walton College of Business, Pamela and Robert "Bobby" Nichols of Shreveport, La., have pledged $240,000 to fund an endowed Honors College scholarship for the Walton College.

The gift was matched by the funds from the university's Matching Gift Program to create a total endowed scholarship fund of $480,000.

Nov. 2, 2005 - Yale School of Music Receives $100 Million Gift

An anonymous gift of $100 million will allow the school to fuly subsidize the tuition of all it's students. The subsidized tuition, including those students already attending, will begin in the 2006-07 school year. For the entire press release, please go to
