Academic Competitive Grant (ACG)

While the ACG program is still technically alive, there hasn't been any funding for it approved since 2011. The Academic Competitive Grant (ACG) awards $750 for the first year of study and $1,300 for the second year. Recipients must also have been awarded a Pell Grant. Another requirement is that you must have completed a Recognized Rigorous Secondary School Program of Study.

You will need to fill out the FAFSA to be considered for the ACG. If you haven't filled out a FAFSA before, you should apply for a personal identification number (PIN). The PIN will allow you to fill out and submit your FAFSA online.

If the number of eligible people would make the ACG payments exceed the total money allocated, then the awards may be reduced pro rata. Check the https://www2.ed.gov/programs/smart/index.html website for more details and requirements.
