New Hampshire 529 College Savings Plans

New Hampshire provides two college savings plans, the UNIQUE Plan and the Fidelity Advisory 529 Plan. The main difference between them is the FA 529 Plan is available only through financial advisors, and the UNIQUE Plan can be joined directly. Fidelity Investments currently has a 15 year contract to administer the New Hampshire 529 Plans. College savings plans offer advantages to investors such as deferring federal income taxes on the earnings as well as tax-free withdrawals when used for approved educational expenses.

New Hampshire UNIQUE College Investment Plan (UNIQUE Plan)

There are many other advantages to the UNIQUE Plan including,

An account can be opened with as little as $50.
Investment earnings are free from NH tax, even if the donor isn't a NH resident
There is no annual fee on the account
There is a large variety of both aged-based or static portfolios available
American Express offers a rewards card with a 2.0% rebate on eligible purchases without limit to the UNIQUE account.

New Hampshire Fidelity Advisory 529 Plan (FA 529 Plan)

While the FA 529 Plan has many of the same benefits as the UNIQUE Plan, it is available only through financial advisors.
