Kentucky 529 Education Savings Plan Trust (KESPT)

Administered by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority, the Kentucky 529 Education Savings Plan Trust offers a way to pay for qualified higher education expenses while the earnings grow state and federal tax deferred. The program offers six different investment options, including: Managed Allocation Option, Active Equity Option, Equity Index Option, Balanced Option, Fixed Income Option, and the Guaranteed Option.

The Managed Allocation Option begins as an aggressive portfolio and as the beneficiary grows older and approaches college age, the funds are shifted toward more conservative investments. The other options are fixed and should you want to change to more conservative/aggressive, it will need to be done manually. Changing funds is allowed once per year. You should also check with a financial advisor and tax advisor to see if a 529 investment is right for you.
